Hungary Begins EURO 2024 Campaign with a Loss

Budapest, Hungary - The Hungary national football team has kicked off their UEFA European Football Championship campaign with a disappointing 3-1 loss to Switzerland on Saturday. Despite a strong start, Hungary conceded three goals in the second half of the match, leaving them at the bottom of Group I.

The Swiss took the lead in the 54th minute through a goal by Breel Embolo, who capitalized on a defensive lapse by the Hungarian backline. Xherdan Shaqiri doubled Switzerland's advantage in the 68th minute, followed by a third goal from Remo Freuler in the 78th minute.

Hungary managed to salvage some pride with a goal from Loic Nego in the 80th minute, but it was too little too late to prevent a defeat that has dented their hopes of advancing to the knockout stages. The Hungarian squad will now face Germany and Italy in their remaining group matches, where they will need to perform significantly better to have a chance at qualifying for the Round of 16.

The Swiss, on the other hand, will be pleased with their start to the tournament and will look to build on this victory in their upcoming matches against Lithuania and Turkey.
